To the students of Mountain High …..know that we miss you. Know that I and all Mountain High staff look forward to the time when we get to work face to face with you again. Thank you for sticking with it. Thank you for your increased diligence, discipline and determination to make this work. The soft closure has created challenging circumstances for us all. We know many of you were battling very difficult and serious challenges before the soft-closure and that you still do, only now without the daily interaction and support of the Mountain High staff. We are as devoted to your success as we ever were. We always will be.
Remote learning does make new demands on students and educators, but we will emerge from this experience better than we were before and come out of this more experienced and skilled than we would have been. You are an incredible group of young people. You are the reason why I and every educator went into this profession. If there ever was a generation more able and ready to succeed, more able to become better and stronger in such storms, it is you.
Good timber does not grow with ease,
The stronger wind, the stronger trees,
The further sky, the greater length,
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.
(Douglas Malloch – Good Timber)
When faced with a mountain, climb.
